Can we see the burst of colours of the wildflowers amongst the landscape? (Painting) (SOLD), 2018
Synthetic polymer on canvas, 200 x 148cm

Whilst living on Arrernte Country I have seen so many beautiful wildflowers and met many artists who paint the wildflowers of their land. I started thinking about the seasonal burst of wildflowers on Quandamooka Country. I wonder how they made our ancestors feel? Soon after I came home to visit Minjerribah and all the wildflowers had came out early. I wove a large wildflower sculpture and traced it 7 times onto this canvas. The 7 wildflowers represent the women in my life present and past and the centre flower is our apical ancestor.
When I walk through the bush and see the burst of colours of the wildflowers when they bloom in their season, I wonder how they made our ancestors feel. The seven wildflowers represent the women in my life present and past. The centre flower represents our apical ancestor. The painting has been formed tracing the weave.
