In August 2017, the public art icon, The Citizens Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, by Brian Robinson, was launched on the Cairns Esplanade by the Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef organisation with the support of the Australian and Queensland Governments and the Cairns Regional Council. This public artwork was jointly funded by all three governments and is now owned and maintained by the Cairns Regional Council. The Citizens Gateway was commissioned to feature on the Cairns Esplanade as a symbolic ‘Gateway’ to the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef. This artwork is now the focal point for the Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef initiative, a global social purpose movement empowering current and future generations to better understand, protect and enjoy our Great Barrier Reef.
To commemorate the importance of this commission, Brian Robinson, in association with Master Printmaker, Theo Tremblay (Not-For-Profit Editions), has struck a magnificent, limited-edition print which is now available to purchase and collect.
