Being on saltwater country by the sea it’s important to wear a hat to protect yourself from the sun. This hat was inspired by my research into the history of Australian fashion. This hat is in response to Akubra’s being recognised as one of Australia’s key forms of fashion. I wove this hat using the techniques of coiling and looping acknowledging our weaving practices which also need to be recognised in the history of Australian dress.
