When I was a young teenager, my uncle and I were travelling in a dinghy back to Thursday Island from Badu Island. Along the way, I witnessed a shark attacking a turtle. I immediately told my uncle what I had seen and he informed me that it would have been a tiger shark, adding “that’s why you must be careful when jumping for turtle during the mating season”. Tiger sharks stalk turtles from beneath, while the turtles float on the surface, making jumping dangerous for the mating turtle. This print reminds me to be cautious when jumping for turtle.
