31 July – 31 August 2019
Foto-Metafisica: The Archive as Object-Poem is a solo exhibition by Glen Skien. This immersive body of work is a response to Skien’s recent involvement in the 2018 Creative Fellowship at the State Library of Victoria. A range of these works are a mix of hybrid artist book forms that incorporate techniques such as etching, collage and thin thread binding. Skien adopted a poetic gaze towards the State archive and embraces Bachelard’s dictum ‘to be moved by the vast archive of insignificant things’ in his execution. Glen Skien is Brisbane-based artist who trained as a printmaker in Townsville. With over 25 years of experience in the arts industry, Skien has exhibited widely and his work is held in both private and public collections across Australia and Japan.
Opening Event: Friday 2 August 2019, 6 – 8pm
